The breath is one of life's seemingly small steps. Sometimes people even seem angry when it is offered as a strategy, tool, or solution. They seem to want something more complicated, robust, and more glamorous.
Eric Greitens, in his book, Resilience, asks the question, "Want to master your life?" He believes mastering your life starts with your breath. Greitens has some impressive experience as a Navy SEAL, Rhodes Scholar, boxing champion, and humanitarian. When someone with those accomplishments says, "controlling our breath is THE most important way to control ourselves," it's worth listening.
"Becoming aware of our breathing and taking control of it
when we need to is one of the most powerful ways
to take control of ourselves, especially when we are afraid."
